Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Engineering Intern and/or Engineering Co-Op (Nuclear) - Summer 2026 located at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, Nebraska. Position closes October 26, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. This position will report to an Engineering Supervisor based upon Co-Op/Intern degree of study and interests in cooperation with the Director of Engineering.
Position Summary
Nebraska Public Power District is looking for electrical and/or mechanical engineering students that have an interest in working in the field of nuclear power and utility generation. The work location is at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, Nebraska. At a minimum, the student must be finishing their sophomore year of college. Co-op engineering students are hired for a semester with comprehensive benefits, additional pay for living expenses, and a competitive salary.
NOTE: Co-op position is available to undergraduate students only.
Education, Training and Experience
The student must be pursuing an electrical or a mechanical engineering degree from an accredited college/university. At a minimum, the student must be finishing their sophomore year of college. Preference will be given to electrical engineering majors.
The Co-op Engineer will work the 2026 summer/fall session (mid-May through December 2026).
The Engineer Intern will work the 2026 summer session (mid-May through approximately the first week of August 2026).

Engineer Intern/Co-op - Sophomore | $24.89 per hour |
Engineer Intern/Co-op - Junior | $26.80 per hour |
Engineer Intern/Co-op - Senior | $28.72 per hour |

Travel Required: Minimal travel may occur for Intern/Co-Op to participate in NPPD activities at other locations.
