Maintenance Rule Engineer I - V CNS

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Rule Engineer I - V CNS located at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, Nebraska.  Position closes August 24, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time or until the position is filled. This position will report to Engineering Fix It Now Supervisor.

Position Summary

The successful candidate for the Maintenance Rule Coordinator position will develop effective working relationship with maintenance, operations, and other engineering departments as required to implement all aspects of 10CFR50.65 for monitoring the effectiveness of maintenance at nuclear power plants (Maintenance Rule) at CNS. 

 

Attend on-site and/or industry conferences & training to continue development of engineering fundamentals for application in the nuclear power industry. 

 

Use and share operating experience from other plants and vendor to improve the reliability of the station. 

 

This position may be assigned to a position within the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) that requires response to the station when an emergency is declared. Assignment to one of these positions and a condition of continued employment will be the ability to arrive at the station to perform ERO responsibilities within 45 minutes of notification of an emergency.

Education, Training and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (ABET accredited) or Professional Engineering License.
Other Experience:  
* Must be able to maintain a position on the CNS Emergency Response Organization ERO 
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, primarily Excel, Word, and Access 
* Intermediate analytical and problem-solving skills 
* Strong time management, prioritization, and organization skills 
* Proficient communication and interpersonal skills
* Experience with the Maintenance Rule 
 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Coordinate and maintain Cooper Nuclear Station in good standing with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) within all aspects of the Maintenance Rule.

 

Trend and monitor the effectiveness of maintenance at Cooper Nuclear Station using station procedures and operating experience.

 

Prepare evaluations and develop effective corrective actions to detect and close potential gaps with the implementation of the site’s Maintenance Rule Program.

 

Develop, maintain, and continuously improve System Engineering capabilities that will support department and station goals through improved equipment and station performance.


 
Review and initiate corrective action based upon information from internal investigations and industry sources.

 

Provide Maintenance Rule Training to personnel to support them achieving required qualifications.

 

Maintain the CNS Maintenance Rule Database (Microsoft Access) up to date.

 

Possess the ability to interface at all levels of management and co-workers and strive to be a team player.

 

Implements the requirements of Cooper Nuclear Station (CNS) Technical Specifications (TS) Surveillance Frequency Control Program.

 

Ensure Structure, System, and Component design, operation, testing methods, and acceptance criteria specified in applicable Codes and Standards will continue to be met as described in the plant licensing basis.

 

Coordinate a multi-disciplinary, Integrated Decision-Making Panel (IDP) to evaluate the results of the deterministic considerations in conjunction with the risk insights from the Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) to determine if proposed Surveillance Test Interval (STI) changes are acceptable.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. 

Engineer   I, Exempt Pay Grade 12:  $6,017 to $7,124

Engineer  II, Exempt Pay Grade 13:  $6,748 to $7,990

Engineer III, Exempt Pay Grade 14:  $7,674 to $9,220

Engineer IV, Exempt Pay Grade 15:  $8,805 to $10,580

Engineer  V, Exempt Pay Grade 16:  $10,102  to $12,138
