Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Nuclear Instructor I or II (Operations) located at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, Nebraska to support our initial licensed Operator training program.
Position closes August 16, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time or until filled.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for developing, scheduling, and presenting quality training to the staff at Cooper Nuclear Station (CNS). This position is also responsible for maintaining training programs consistent with NRC, INPO, ANI, and NPPD/CNS requirements. Instructors assigned to this position may provide training in support of accredited training programs or training in support of other nuclear training programs.
Instructors assigned to Operations, Engineering and EP are eligible for Nuclear Instructor I.
Education, Training and Experience
Nuclear Instructor I
A bachelor's degree or military equivalent and three years of relevant experience
OR
An associate's degree or military equivalent and five years relevant experience
OR
A high school diploma and seven years relevant experience
Relevant experience is defined as senior level/fully qualified working experience in the applicable related technical area. Two years of experience in instructional/training activities is highly desired.
Nuclear Instructor II
A bachelor's degree or military equivalent and one year of relevant experience
OR
An associate's degree or military equivalent and three years relevant experience
OR
A high school diploma and five years relevant experience
Relevant experience is defined as senior level/fully qualified working experience in the applicable related technical area. One year of experience in instructional/training activities is highly desired
Licenses and/or Certifications
Must obtain Senior Reactor Operator Certification and become a Certified Instructor.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare and present instruction in support of accredited nuclear training programs at Cooper Nuclear Station.
Evaluate trainee performance.
Arrange and coordinate instruction provided by vendors.
Develop, maintain, and modify instructional materials.
Document training and communicate/provide information to satisfy NRC and NPPD/CNS requirements.
Participate in training required to maintain knowledge and skills as an instructor.
Accountable for other duties as assigned.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.
Nuclear Instructor I
Pay Grade 15
Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $9,430.00 - $12,023.00
Nuclear Instructor II
Pay Grade 14
Typical Pay Grade Starting Range: $8,218 - $10,478
Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
