Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Nuclear Strategic Asset Management & Special Projects Coordinator I, II or III located at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, Nebraska.  Position closes March 10, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. 

 

Position Summary

Assists with development and oversight of engineering projects plans, from initiation through closeout, to include station modifications as applicable while ensuring accountability to Technical Specifications and plant procedures. The incumbent applies an overall approach to assemble a comprehensive plan and cover all areas of work which is at all times flexible and will quickly and accurately reflect the effects of any changes in any aspect of the project plan. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that assigned projects are safely executed on schedule, within cost limits, and to the quality specified.

This position may be assigned to a position within the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) that requires response to the station when an emergency is declared. Assignment to one of these positions and a condition of continued employment will be the ability to arrive at the station to perform ERO responsibilities within 45 minutes of notification of an emergency.

Education, Training and Experience

Nuclear Strategic Asset Management & Special Projects Coordinator I

B.S in Engineering from ABET accredited school, and at least: Two (2) years experience in operations, engineering, work management/planning or maintenance in an industrial setting is required.

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, project management, business or related field from accredited college or university and two (2) years experience in operations, engineering, work management/planning or maintenance in an industrial setting is required.

Associate Degree in a technical discipline minimum of four (4) years experience in operations, engineering, work management/planning or maintenance at in an industrial setting is required.

High School Diploma and minimum of six (6) years experience in operations, engineering, work management/planning or maintenance in an industrial setting is required.

 

Nuclear Strategic Asset Management and Special Projects Coordinator II

 

B.S in Engineering from ABET accredited school, and at least: Five (5) years experience in operations, engineering, work management/planning or maintenance at a commercial operating nuclear plant is required.

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, project management, business or related field from accredited college or university and five (5) years experience in operations, engineering, work management/planning or maintenance at a commercial operating nuclear plant is required*

Nuclear Strategic Asset Management and Special Projects Coordinator III

B.S in Engineering from ABET accredited school, and at least: Ten (10) years experience in operations, engineering, work management/planning or maintenance in an industrial setting is required, of which five (5) of those years must be in a commercial nuclear plant setting, and  five years (5 years) of project management experience.

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, project management, business or related field from accredited college or university and Ten (10) years experience in operations, engineering, work management/planning or maintenance in an industrial setting is required, of which five (5) of those years must be in a commercial nuclear plant setting, and  five years (5 years) of project management experience.

Associate Degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of twelve (12) years experience in operations, engineering, work management/planning or maintenance in an industrial setting is required, of which six (6) of those years must be in a commercial nuclear plant setting, and  five years (5 years) of project management

High School Diploma and minimum of sixteen (16) years experience in operations, engineering, work management/planning or maintenance in an industrial setting is required, of which ten (10) of those years must be in a commercial nuclear plant setting, and  five years (5 years) of project management

 

An individual who has held a Senior Reactor Operator license at a commercial nuclear power plant will be given consideration towards the Education requirements.

 

Licenses and/or Certifications

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred for Level I and Level II. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required for Level III.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Assist with planning and managing work activities to ensure successful project execution

Track schedules and budgets under supervision

 

Ensure projects meet quality and safety standards

 

Monitors day-today activities and consistently demonstrates the ability to proactively identify potential project problems or opportunities, analyze the issues using all appropriate resources, develop alternatives, and arrive at the most optimum approach to mitigate problems or exploit opportunities under supervision.

 

Demonstrates knowledge of resources and capabilities of other groups for appropriate incorporation into project organization.

 

Supports formal status reporting and presentations to management, external parties/organizations and/or vendors.

 

Prepare and present written and oral communications to various groups including senior management and regulatory bodies.

 

Participate in Cooper Nuclear Station committees as assigned.

 

Participate and support Cooper Nuclear Station performance improvement activities and corrective action program.

 

Duties outlined above are for those at the Level I position. Level of responsibilities and duties increase with each level.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range.  Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.

Exempt Pay Grade 13 Typical Starting Salary Range $7,668 - $9,686

Nuclear Strategic Asset Management & Special Projects Coordinator II

Exempt Pay Grade 15 Typical Starting Salary Range $10,006 - $12,887 

Nuclear Strategic Asset Management & Special Projects Coordinator III

Exempt Pay Grade 16 Typical Starting Salary Range $11,480 - $14,785

 

Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska)  Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
