Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Operations Temporary Outage Support Worker located at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, Nebraska.  Position closes June 29, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. 

 

Position Summary

The primary responsibility of the Temporary Outage Support worker is to support the CNS Operations department work control and outage planning processes. 

Risk review and approval of work orders in accordance with state and federal regulations, plant operating license and station procedures.

Education, Training and Experience

Must have a minimum of 20 years experience at Cooper Nuclear Station with at least 15 years experience in CNS Operations as a licensed Operator.

Licenses and/or Certifications

Former licensed Senior Reactor Operator at Cooper Nuclear Station

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Approval of work orders to support the work control process ensures that the risk to Cooper Nuclear Stations' safe operation due to the performance of the work order is known and understood.

Perform the risk review requires detailed knowledge of the stations' systems, drawings and procedures.

Perform risk and work order reviews, therefore, the incumbent is required to have held an NRC Senior Reactor Operator license at Cooper Nuclear Station.

Interface with and provide resolutions to operational issues raised by the various regulatory agencies and INPO.

Review and align workweek schedule to ensure risk from scheduled activities meets station needs.

Incumbent is accountable for miscellaneous other responsibilities as assigned or required.

Salary

Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary listed in posting, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range.

Retirement Savings

NPPD employees may participate in two retirement plan options – a 401(k) plan and a 457(b) plan. Both plans allow for pre-tax or Roth contributions. After the first six months of employment, the 401(k) plan includes a generous matching contribution from NPPD. The five-year vesting period begins on an employee’s hire date. Our retired employees are eligible for retiree healthcare benefits as well as a life benefit paid out to designated beneficiaries upon their passing.
