Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Quality Assurance Auditor located at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, Nebraska.  Position closes January 31, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. or until filled. This position will report to the Nuclear Independent Oversight Compliance Manager.

Position Summary

The Quality Assurance Auditor provides technical expertise and leadership skills necessary to assure Quality Assurance products are sufficient to recognize vulnerabilities in performance and are effective in ensuring response will improve both performance and quality. The Quality Assurance Auditor may lead and will conduct oversight functions for the audit process for internal and/or external audits/assessments. This position may be responsible for the supervision of audit teams while performing the function of Lead Auditor. This position requires the skills to support audit/assessment activities at other nuclear facilities and may be responsible for extensive technical monitoring of programs within their experience base.

Education, Training and Experience

Bachelor of science degree in Engineering or related scientific/technical field with two years of experience preferred at a commercial nuclear power plant, but relevant non-nuclear experience will also be considered.

OR

Associates degree in scientific/technical field with four years of experience preferred at a commercial nuclear power plant, but relevant non-nuclear experience will also be considered.

OR

Equivalent military training and four years of experience preferred at a commercial nuclear power plant, but relevant non-nuclear experience will also be considered.

OR

High school/General Educational Development (GED) with six years of experience preferred at a commercial nuclear power plant, but relevant non-nuclear experience will also be considered.

 

Preference will be given to applicants with a Bachelor of science degree in Engineering or related scientific/technical field (i.e. Mathematics, Physics, etc.) and relevant experience.

Licenses and/or Certifications

Meet the requirements of and be certified to American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) N45.2.23 Qualification of Quality Assurance Program Audit Personnel for Nuclear Power Plants as endorsed by Reg Guide 1.146, Rev. 0) within two years of fulfilling the position. In some cases, individuals may not meet ANSI requirements but may be hired to fulfill positions due to their extensive technical expertise and may not be Lead Auditor certified.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for the performance of audit teams while functioning as Lead Auditor for internal and/or external audits/assessments.

Provide compliance and performance oversight to the direction, conduct, and focus of the audit/assessment process and recognize and articulate the significance of issues identified.

Responsible for the planning, conduct, and execution of audit/assessment briefs, entrances, exits, reports, and follow-up activities.

Evaluate audit/assessment issues identified by team members for appropriate disposition, including reporting to management, problem identification reporting, and elevation/escalation of issues.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range.  Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.

Pay Grade - 14 Monthly

Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $7,746 - $9,876 per month

Travel Required: Travel to vendor sites may include up to 40% overnight travel out-of-state and may fluctuate by business need. Travel will be discussed in further detail with candidates that receive an interview.

Retirement Savings

NPPD employees may participate in two retirement plan options – a 401(k) plan and a 457(b) plan. Both plans allow for pre-tax or Roth contributions. After the first six months of employment, the 401(k) plan includes a generous matching contribution from NPPD. The five-year vesting period begins on an employee’s hire date. Our retired employees are eligible for retiree healthcare benefits as well as a life benefit paid out to designated beneficiaries upon their passing.
