Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Temporary Electrician III located at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, Nebraska. Position closes Sunday, May 17, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.
Position Summary
Perform electrical maintenance activities related to a nuclear power plant to support efficient operation while minimizing down time and operation in a Limiting Condition Operation (LCO). Be available when required to ensure an adequate pool of manpower to correct plant problems.
Education, Training and Experience
Requirement: Incumbent must have completed and be recommended based on the Power Plant Maintenance Positions Selection System (MASS) results.
Two-year associate's degree in electrical/electronics or equivalent military training.
OR
High school diploma/GED and successful completion of an Electrical Apprentice Program and four years of experience as an Electrician in an industrial setting.
Required to meet requirements in American National Standards Institute (ANSI) N-18.1-1971. (Documentation of qualifications is a condition of employment.)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform preventative maintenance activities on station equipment to ensure its continuing availability, prolong service life, and reduce breakdowns.
Troubleshoot and perform corrective maintenance on station equipment to minimize both downtime and operation in an LCO.
Perform investigations of failures and deficiencies with plant equipment with engineers, department and shop supervisors, and vendors in order to correct problems and improve the reliability of station equipment.
Achieve and maintain qualification through successful completion of classroom, lab, and on-the-job training as demonstrated by passing written and performance tests. Achieve and demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to perform Electrician III Level duties, maintain Electrician III qualifications, and demonstrate the ability to progress through the Electrician Progression Program.
Initiate, review, and revise station procedures to comply with requirements, improve the quality and accuracy of procedural guidance, and improve documentation of work records.
Work shift work in support of maintenance activities as required.
Accountable for other duties as assigned.

In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.
Pay Grade - 11 Hourly
Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $33.16 - $41.45
Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
