Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Temporary Licensing Technical Specialist located at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, Nebraska. Position closes February 8, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.
Position Summary
To temporarily provide operations interface support, administration and coordination of licensing performance improvment projects/initiatves, maintenance of licensing procedures and programs, and resolution of operational and regulatory issues, in order to provide effective support for the safe and efficient operation of Cooper Nuclear Station.
Education, Training and Experience
Bachelor's degree preferred in Engineering and/or 20 years of nuclear power plant experience. 10 years of power plant experience at Cooper Nuclear Station with a minimum of 7 years of Licensing experience.
Licenses and/or Certifications
Previous Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provide operational experience for Licensing improvement projects. Must be able to research, interpret, and translate technical information associated with the technical design basis or regulatory licensing basis of a nuclear facility, to station procedures and processes.
Interface with, and provide resolutions to operational and reportability related to issues various regulatory agencies.
Perform apparent and root cause evaluations, and develop corrective action plans for assigned Corrective Action Program action items.
Perform operational reviews of proposed plant modifications, including evaluation of safety impact, and impact to licensing basis.
Function as program leader or program owner of various assigned programs.
Must be able to interpret and apply NRC regulatory requirements into station practices.
Accountable for other duties as assigned.
