Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Billing Analyst located at Columbus General Office in Columbus, Nebraska.  Position closes February 26 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. 

This position will report to the Wholesale Billing Manager.  

Position Summary

The Billing Analyst provides support to the Wholesale Billing processes through the production of various data files, working with data to produce billing related reports and invoices and upon completion of billing to produce and distribute reports pertaining to revenue and billing units for customer use. 

Incumbent should have basic understanding of the Wholesale Billing System, related software tools, metering principles, revenue metering, electric system fundamentals and operations, delivery of power and energy and electric industry terms, such as demand, energy, point of delivery, point of measurement, loss factor, on-peak hours, etc.

Incumbent embraces and exhibits a strong safety culture by making safety considerations a core part of doing business.

Education, Training and Experience

Associates Degree in Business or Computer Sciences for business application (OR) equivalent knowledge gained through at least six (6) years in electric utility industry.

 

 Experience or technical knowledge in billing, rates or energy delivery in an electric utility.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Support the process of Wholesale Billing by accessing meter data in NPPD's Wholesale Billing and Reporting database (MV-90) and Multi-Vendor Reading System (MVRS), maintaining Wholesale Billing System (MV-PBS) and Loss Factor Maintenance System (LFMS), creating totalizations for multiple metering locations and producing billing related reports (the "Combined Summary," "Combined Internal" and "Combined Contributors" reports) that determine the billing quantities for NPPD's rural public power district, municipal and large industrial customers.

Produce, on a monthly basis, necessary data files (zero data files) to be used in conjunction with hourly billing data in the production of bills for power and energy sold by NPPD at the Wholesale level.  Assist Wholesale Billing Specialists in setting up new customer accounts in the MV-PBS System and entering load data into MV-90 zero data files.

Support the process of Wholesale Billing by accessing data in other associated data bases (MCG) and importing data files from outside entities (WAPA, Tri-State) for including, as necessary, into billing related reports.

Prepare transmission, non-firm and participation bills for customers purchasing transmission and other services under NPPD's transmission rates and in accordance with customer contracts.  Review KCC logs, MV-PBS reports, MCG information and other information necessary to support the billing process and validate the accuracy of bills.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range.  Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.

Pay Grade - 9 Monthly

Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $4,455.00  - $5,569.00

Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska)  Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.

Retirement Savings

NPPD employees may participate in two retirement plan options – a 401(k) plan and a 457(b) plan. Both plans allow for pre-tax or Roth contributions. After the first six months of employment, the 401(k) plan includes a generous matching contribution from NPPD. The five-year vesting period begins on an employee’s hire date. Our retired employees are eligible for retiree healthcare benefits as well as a life benefit paid out to designated beneficiaries upon their passing.
