Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Geospatial Technical or System Developer located at Columbus General Office in Columbus or Kearney Operations Center in Kearney .  Position closes October 30, 2020. 


Position Summary

Technical Analyst

This may be an entry-level position for colleagues possessing a relevant bachelor’s degree with no previous ET/Corporate Security work experience. This may also be an advanced position for those colleagues advancing from ET Support Technician. Emphasis is on implementation tasks such as application program coding, software installation, server administration, and local area network and security administration. Colleagues advancing to this position from ET Support Technician would be expected to function independently without oversight often at remote locations. Experience gained in this position includes problem analysis and resolution, systems design, and knowledge of the operating systems and networks used by the District.


Systems Analyst

This is the mid-level position in the Analyst family of positions with assignments designed to develop furtherknowledge of information technology with an increased focus on customer relations skills. Emphasis is ondesign and analysis, while gaining experience with various operating systems and networks. System Analyst teammates are expected to demonstrate a high level of knowledge, skills, and competencies in their job family and demonstrate a broad level of knowledge across all job families.

Education, Training and Experience

Technical Analyst

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field (OR) an Associate's degree and 3 years technical IT experience including specific experience as listed below (OR) a high school diploma/GED and 5 years technical IT experience including specific experience as listed below. 


Systems Analyst

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field and 3 years technical IT experience includingspecific experience as listed below (OR) an Associates degree and 6 years technical IT experience includingspecific experience as listed below (OR) a high school diploma/GED and 8 years technical IT experienceincluding specific experience as listed below.



  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others on multiple activities, with flexibility to manage competing demands and changing priorities
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organization skills
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills
  • Must be customer-service oriented and adaptable to ongoing change
Licenses and/or Certifications

Security Clearance: Incumbent may be required to satisfy any existing and future District security clearance or background check requirements for access to key NPPD locations and/or supporting sensitive business applications.

Obtain and maintain intermediate to advanced technical certification aligned with key business system platform(s) used at the District (e.g. SAP, Microsoft Certifications, and Security related best practices) as applicable.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Technical & Systems Analyst

Analyze, design, develop, configure, maintain, troubleshoot and provide direction and support for complex systems, applications and databases in support of the District’s computing environment. Provide technical architecture recommendations and apply best practices in system design, development, and testing. Collaborate with/advise/coach other ET/Corporate Security and business unit analysts to ensure understanding of business and technical work processes, tools and best practices.  


Evaluate, create, document, and test complex system-related interfaces and integration.


Maintains efficient and effective management of vendor contract service relationships pertaining to technical services.


Provide 24/7 system support, carry a mobile communications device, and perform duties from remote locations such as home and during business travel.


Systems Analyst

Lead special task groups, trouble-shooting efforts, and integration and/or improvement project teams.

Lead the development and implementation of training and communications plans/materials.

Accountable for other duties as assigned.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. 

Pay Grade - 12 Monthly (Technical Analyst)

Pay Grade  - 13 Monthly (Systems Analyst)

Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: 5,472.76  -  6,840.96

Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range:  6,138 - 7,673

Travel Required: Will vary by location of successful candidate.  Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
