Program Manager - Electrification

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Program Manager - Electrification located at the Columbus General Office in Columbus, Nebraska.  Position closes August 10, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. 


Position Summary

The Incumbent provides management and development of District programs focused on electrification of large energy sectors of the economy such as transportation, heating systems, and industrial processes. Incumbent will establish a process to quantify the carbon reduction aspects of each program, quantify potential savings of end use customer energy (fossil fuel and electricity) expenditures resulting from fossil to electric conversion, quantify the additional KWhs sold as a result of electrification, as well as manage any potential incentive/promotion programs.  Responsible for understanding the customer's business and energy needs, understanding the utility business aspects of electrification, being a source of industry-wide information, and putting the resources of NPPD in support of the customer.

Education, Training and Experience

Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, economics, or business is required. Graduate degree in finance, economics, or business is preferred.


Effectively applies advanced computer and software skills, including Excel, Power Point, Word, and the ability to write Excel macros. 


Excellent verbal, written, and oral presentation/communication skills.

Licenses and/or Certifications

Certified Energy Manager or obtaining this designation within 1 year of employment is preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Develop, administer, and manage electrification programs to meet NPPD Board of Directors electrification strategic directive. Closely coordinate the development and implementation of electrification programs with Wholesale and Retail customers.  Working with other NPPD departments, quantify the carbon reduction values of each program, quantify potential savings of end use customer’s energy (fossil fuel and electricity) expenditures resulting from fossil to electric conversion, quantify the additional KWhs sold as a result of electrification.  


Establish promotional programs and manage the development and distribution/communication of these programs.  Provide education regarding the benefits of simultaneously promoting both energy efficiency (saving the end use customer money by reducing KWh consumption) and electrification (saving the end use customer money by reducing fossil energy consumption and increasing electric consumption)


Be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on various forms of EV charging as well as new electrification technology.


Monitor the success of District electrification programs. Provide periodic updates to management, customers, and NPPD Board of Directors on the results, goals, and future program plans.


Monitor the industry status for electrification technologies. Serve as the technical liaison between the utility, the Account Managers, and the Wholesale Customers. Present results at customer meetings and through ongoing customer interactions.


Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with internal and external customers.  


Coordinate and manage project teams as assigned.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. 

Pay Grade - 15 Monthly

Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $8,298.00  - $10,580.00


Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska)  Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
