Temporary Custodian

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Temporary Custodian located at Columbus General Office in Columbus.  Position closes April 16, 2021.

 

This position will report to the Facility Services Supervisor.

Position Summary

Temporary custodian will assist with the Columbus General Office (CGO) and Lincoln Area Office LED lighting projects. Duties will include custodial tasks such as cleaning and performing housekeeping activities for the CGO. Incumbent will maintain the grounds including mowing, trimming, sprinkler repair, and general lawn and landscaping maintenance. May include some travel to eastern facilties to assist with maintenance services as needed.

 

Temporary positions to end approximately August 31, 2019 (depending on availability). No benefits apply to this temporary position.

 

This position will report to the Columbus Facilities Services Supervisor.

Education, Training and Experience

High school diploma or GED required.

 

Must be 18 years of age or older when start employment with NPPD.

 

Must read, understand, and apply information contained in safety data sheets (SDS) relative to chemical use.

 

Previous lawn care and sprinkler maintenance experience is preferred.

Licenses and/or Certifications

Must possess and maintain a valid Nebraska driver license.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Perform lawn care/maintenance using a riding mower, string trimmers, and other miscellaneous equipment.

 

Monitor, adjust, and repair underground sprinklers.

 

Perform building custodial services and facility and furniture general repairs.

 

Assist with employee relocations and department remodeling.

 

Miscellaneous other responsibilities as assigned.

 

Work safely and follow instructions

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. 

$10 to $13 per hour, depending on experience

 

Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska)  Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
