Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Wholesale Billing System & Customer Support Specialist located at Columbus General Office in Columbus, Nebraska.  Position closes April 8 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. 

This position will report to the Wholesale Billing Manager. 

Position Summary

 

The Wholesale Billing System & Customer Support Specialist assesses the various business relationships that NPPD has with customers who purchase products and services from NPPD at wholesale and will model and incorporate these products and services into NPPD's Wholesale Billing System.  

 

The incumbent is a primary contact for Wholesale Billing in interfacing with other NPPD functions and areas such as Pricing and Rates, Contracts, Transmission Control Center, Accounting and Information Services.  The incumbent is responsible for the review of customer reports related to billing, and for the preparation of wholesale power bills and transmission service bills in an accurate and expeditious manner each month.

 

The Wholesale Billing System & Customer Support Specialist must be detailed-oriented and be accurate in his/her work. Time management skills are essential in this position. The Specialist understands the provisions of NPPD’s various rates for services provided (GFPS, Special Power Products, T2 and ST, or their replacements), has a basic understanding of metering principles and revenue metering, the electric system fundamentals and operations, delivery of power and energy and electric industry terms (demand, energy, point of delivery, point of measurement, loss factor, on-peak and off-peak hours, etc.). Incumbent must have effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate with NPPD customers and other utilities regarding billing related information and resolve questions related to bills and billing methodology.

Education, Training and Experience

Bachelor's degree in business or technical/engineering related field plus 1 year of experience as described below.

Associate's degree in business or a technical/engineering related field plus 3 years experience as described below.

High School diploma/GED plus 5 years experience as described below.

 

Experience

 

Experience in electric utility customer billing, working with customers to resolve utility billing issues, electric utility operations, electric utility technical studies and analysis, or revenue metering experience is required.  Experience in both customer billing and revenue metering is preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

 

Set-up and modeling of customer accounts within the Wholesale Billing System (MV-PBS) for various products and services, which NPPD provides to its customers at a Wholesale level.  Such products include GFPS, Special Power Products, T2 and ST services, large industrial service, non-firm energy, unit participation and peaking sales.

 

Review and interpret provisions of NPPD contracts and agreements which provide for the sale by NPPD of various products at the wholesale level, for the modeling and incorporation of such products into the Wholesale Billing System.

 

Understand NPPD rates such as GFPS, Special Power Products, T2, ST (or their replacements) and any supplements related thereto, and apply said rates in supplying services at wholesale by NPPD.

 

Understand and apply knowledge of NPPD's Wholesale Billing and Reporting Data base system (MV-90), the Wholesale Billing System (MV-PBS), Loss Factor Maintenance System (LFMS) and other associated information systems (such as MCG) or billing and financial systems (CIS, SAP) for their use by and relationship to Wholesale Billing activities.

 

Interface with individuals performing Wholesale Billing, and other NPPD areas such as Pricing and Rates, Contracts, Transmission Control Center, Kearney Control Center, Information Services, Accounting and System Planning to facilitate Wholesale Billing activities.

 

Review customer reports and appropriate billing losses (standard, actual, irrigation, non-irrigation) and WAPA x/y ratios to determine loads at NPPD’s billing location (Bus A), verify meter data (outages, meter malfunctions, load shifts) and other information necessary to support the billing process and validate the accuracy of bills.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range.  Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.

Pay Grade - 12 Monthly

Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $6,477.00  - $8,096.00

Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska)  Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
