Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for an Engineer III - Production located at Sheldon Station in Hallam, Nebraska.
Position closes December 31, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time, or until filled.
This position will report to the Sheldon Station Engineering Manager.
Position Summary
A fully competent engineer in conventional aspects within the specific discipline with expertise in specific areas of past assignments. Assignments designed to expand the areas of expertise within the discipline, develop project management skills and develop a general knowledge of other disciplines.
Level II to Level III Engineer is considered a progression and is approved by the appropriate manager.
Education, Training and Experience
Bachelor of science degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university or college or a Professional Engineering License obtained by an accredited examination.
Demonstrated technical competence in discipline. Ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently. Ability to perform cost estimating and scheduling. Ability to apply engineering economic principles. Specific/leadership level of knowledge of professional engineering practices. Specific/leadership level of knowledge of business unit engineered systems and equipment. Specific/leadership level of knowledge of accepted codes, regulations and standards pertinent to the business unit. Demonstrated ability to perform the duties of the Engineer Level II.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs detailed development, planning and implementation of numerous concurrent assignments of moderate scope.
Performs work which includes a variety of complex features such as unique operating conditions, conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials or methods or difficult coordination requirements.
Performs as a consultant in technical specialties to determine and assess technical and economic feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering solutions as well as analysis of unusual operating conditions.
Communicates with customers concerning needs and work status.
Work generally requires a broad range of knowledge within the specific engineering discipline with expertise in numerous areas and general knowledge of other engineering disciplines.
Engineering Studies - Activities and associated skills which are required to analyze the technical and economic feasibility of new construction projects, modifications to existing systems or equipment or changes in operation or maintenance of existing systems. Research - Obtain field data. Investigate new technology. Review regulatory requirements. Review design standards and codes. Analysis - Develop conceptual design. Prepare design calculations. Determine economic feasibility. Determine technical feasibility. Reporting - Write technical reports. Present reports.
Modification or New Design/ Construction Projects - Activities and associated skills which are required to design and implement new construction projects or modifications to existing equipment or systems.
Activities and associated skills which are required to provide technical and administrative leadership to projects and project teams. Design implementation. Obtain field data. Utilize drawings. Develop design requirements. Prepare design calculations. Utilize technical software. Review design standards and codes. Review and implement regulatory requirements. Research new equipment technology. Develop drawings and material lists. Prepare technical specifications. Prepare installation procedure. Develop acceptance criteria. Support equipment/system. Startup. Update drawings and lists.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.
Engineer Level I - Exempt Pay Grade 12: $6,105 to $7,632 monthly
Engineer Level II - Exempt Pay Grade 13: $6,847 to $8,559 monthly
Engineer Level III - Exempt Pay Grade 14: $7,746 to $9,876 monthly
Engineer Level IV - Exempt Pay Grade 15: $8,888 to $11,333 monthly
Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska) Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
