Princeton Road Station Maintenance Manager

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Princeton Road Station Maintenance Manager.  The position is to be located at NPPD's new Princeton Road Station (PRS) which will be approximately 1.25 miles north of Hallam, Nebraska.  Position closes July 25, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. 

 

This position will report to the Princeton Road Station Facility Manager.

Position Summary

The incumbent is responsible for all mechanical, electrical and instrument and control maintenance activities associate with NPPD’s new Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engine (RICE) and Combustion Turbine (CT) generating facility. Participates in design, construction and commissioning activities associated with the new facility. Develops and implements maintenance strategies, hires staff, and collaborates with station operating team to ensure station performance.

Education, Training and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited school in the fields of electrical or mechanical engineering and 3 years of experience in an industrial setting or power generation facility OR Two-year associate degree in any of the following: Electrical technology, electro-mechanical technology, electronic service technology, mechanical technology, diesel engine technology or equivalent military training plus 5 years of progressive maintenance experience in an industrial setting or power generation facility OR High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 7 years operations experience in an industrial setting or power generation facility.

 

Ability to use Microsoft applications (Word, Excel) and applicable modules of SAP enterprise business solution software (computerized maintenance management, purchase requisitions, planning/scheduling, time confirmations, etc.)

Licenses and/or Certifications

State of Nebraska Driver’s License.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Oversee the execution of all site maintenance on RICE/CT generating facility and associated equipment including but not limited to corrective, preventive, predictive and capital projects. Manage scheduled and unscheduled outages to ensure work is completed in a safe, timely and efficient manner.

 

Assist with facility design, contract review, contract management. Assemble a maintenance team and assist with hiring of other facility personnel.

 

Create a maintenance strategy and develop and implement maintenance plans for the facility.

 

Ensure station compliance with regulatory requirements related to site maintenance activities. 

 

Manage site maintenance personnel which will include coaching, development, training, and salary administration. Set performance goals and oversee the work unit to ensure top performance and continual improvement. 

 

Travel, which will include overnight stays, and be available to cover on-call schedules as necessary. This is part of the expected job function and associated compensation.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range.  Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.

 

Pay Grade - 16

Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $10,503.00  - $13,392.00

 

Travel Required: Up to 25% (With frequent overnight stays, more than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska)  Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.

Retirement Savings

NPPD employees may participate in two retirement plan options – a 401(k) plan and a 457(b) plan. Both plans allow for pre-tax or Roth contributions. After the first six months of employment, the 401(k) plan includes a generous matching contribution from NPPD. The five-year vesting period begins on an employee’s hire date.
