Training Specialist - Production

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Training Specialist - Production located at North Platte Office in North Platte, Nebraska.  Position closes December 28, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. 

Position Summary

Provide high quality training to support NP Hydro, Water Systems, and GGS employees in acquiring the knowledge and skills required to safely and efficiently perform their job.  Develop and apply the necessary tools to deliver training programs, monitor training progress, and evaluate trainees and programs.  Coordinate outside and customer related training programs.

Education, Training and Experience

Education and Training:

Bachelor's degree and four (4) years experience as described below (OR) Associates degree and six (6) years experience as described below (OR) High school diploma or GED and eight (8) years experience as described below.

Prior Related Experience:

Experience in training program development, presentation skills, measurement tools, and facilitation. Experience in operations, maintenance, or support staff in commercial power plants or large industrial facilities is preferred. Experience with OSHA, NERC, FERC, and EPA compliance is desired. Other work experience or demonstrated performance indicating that the applicant has the skills and ability to perform the required duties of the position may be substituted for the specified years of experience outlined above.

Licenses and/or Certifications

Incumbent will be required to obtain the following job essential certifications needed to instruct personnel:

OSHA 501 Certification, 10- & 30-Hour General Industry Instructor

OSHA 511 Certification, Standards for General Industry Oil & Gas Emphasis

Certified American Red Cross Standard First Aid/CPR/AED Emergency Response Instructor

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Develop and maintain training programs including web based training content in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations. Ensure training is consistent with NPPD Safety and Health Standards, Energy Supply policies, Energy Supply Safety Handbook and WSRE, Canaday and Ainsworth Instructions.

Determine Learning Management System (LMS) course catalog for WSRE, Canaday, Ainsworth and ES work groups. Run training reports in SAP, i.e., attendance, no attend, qualifications, etc.

Create and monitor required training qualifications, maintain accurate records and advise Leaders of expired qualifications. 

Provide new employee orientation and training per job position profile.

Assist as requested in reviewing NPPD Safety and Health Standards, Energy Supply policies, Energy Supply Safety Handbook and WSRE, Canaday and Ainsworth Instructions.

Monitor Unescorted Access to GGS for NPPD personnel not working at GGS. Request completion of WBT lesson if qualification is not current.

Develop and provide contractor general orientation training (GOT) and revise videos.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range.  Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.

Pay Grade - 14 Monthly

Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $7,979.00  - $10,173.00

Travel Required:   Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.

Retirement Savings

NPPD employees may participate in two retirement plan options – a 401(k) plan and a 457(b) plan. Both plans allow for pre-tax or Roth contributions. After the first six months of employment, the 401(k) plan includes a generous matching contribution from NPPD. The five-year vesting period begins on an employee’s hire date. Our retired employees are eligible for retiree healthcare benefits as well as a life benefit paid out to designated beneficiaries upon their passing.
