Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Station Storekeeper located at Gerald Gentleman Station in Sutherland, Nebraska.  Position closes January 6, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. 

 

Position Summary

The Station Storekeeper is responsible for materials management activities at GGS. The incumbent will be responsible for material receiving, storage and handling, as

well as accuracy of the warehouse inventory and stores issues. In addition, this position may be required to perform or coordinate light maintenance work and tool room operations.

Education, Training and Experience

Four (4) years of experience in warehouse, inventory management, handling hazardous materials, operating material handling equipment, supply chain management, fossil power plant materials and equipment, accounting principles, and transportation alternatives or other work experience or demonstrated performance indicating that the applicant has the skills and ability to perform the required duties of the Station Storekeeper position. Experience with Windows-based PC programs, Microsoft Office applications, and SAP Logistics software desired. Other work experience or demonstrated performance indicating that the applicant has the skills and ability to perform the required duties of the position may be substituted for the specified years of experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Establish and maintain an excellent working relationship with the various crafts and Operations departments.

 

Review the material transactions daily for new parts, reservations and other inventory-related

activities. Confirm that items ordered are valid, active inventory, available and within minimum / maximum targets. Manage of “R-Stamp” code materials. Resolve discrepancies with the requesting department.

 

Accurately record transactions in the Logistics system to ensure inventory record integrity. Issue direct charges for items not managed by the system. Maintain historical files of critical inventory transactions. Perform MRP (Material, Requisition, and Planning), functions in a back up role. Receive incoming materials delivered by carriers or NPPD trucks. Inspect materials for damage and file claims when material is damaged. Verify that orders are complete; generate received reports; and label and put material into inventory. Deliver material to customers when requested. Perform bar coding of stores items, tools, and gas bottles (where applicable).

 

Coordinate material and inventory management activities for investment recovery and hazardous materials. Activities may also include leaded and unleaded gas, acetylene / argon / C25 / nitrogen / oxygen bottles, and other materials (where applicable).

 

Print inventory cycle count sheets, count inventory, review inventory counts and reconcile cycle count discrepancies. Recommend changes to internal procedures to improve inventory accuracy.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range.  Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.

Pay Grade - 12 Hourly

Typical Pay Grade Starting Salary Range: $36.28  - $45.35

Travel Required:   Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
