Material Controller Intern - Summer 2025

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Material Controller Intern - Summer 2025 located at York Operations Center in York, Nebraska.  Position closes October 31, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. 

 

This position will report to the York Material Coordination Leader.

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the physical handling of construction and maintenance material at the York Central Stores warehouse. It supports all warehouse operations, pulling material for resupply, issues, transfers, and replenishing material into designated storage locations. It requires accuracy and attention to detail to ensure the integrity of Central Stores warehouse inventory, as well as scheduling and coordinating the material deliveries for internal and external customers.

 

The duration of the internship will be May 2025 to August 2025, based on school calendar dates. 

Education, Training and Experience

Students must be enrolled in an accredited four-year college/university carrying a minimum of 12 credits with a major in business management or supply chain management and must maintain enrollment. Junior or senior status is preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Work safely while following stores policies and work procedures. Maintain a working knowledge of the safety manual, construction standards, stock code catalog, and SAP transactions.

 

Work with Material Coordination Leaders/Inventory Controller. Establish and maintain an excellent working relationship with the District's Retail and Wholesale customers, both internal and external.

 

Pull, load, and unload material for resupply, work orders, requisitions, projects, and transfer requests. Package, label, and then record outbound shipments in Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing (SAP).

 

Put away material received from work orders and transferred to Central Stores. Complete special assignments as requested by Coordinators.

 

Inspect materials for damage and file claims when necessary. Verify orders are complete, generate received reports, label material, and place in the proper storage location. Receive incoming materials delivered by carriers or NPPD trucks.

 

Deliver material to customer as requested. Conduct inventory cycle counts and spot counts. Maintain primary and secondary bin locations.

 

Clean bin locations, rotate/rearrange material, and relocate material when appropriate. Practice good housekeeping and report work areas that are unsafe or in need of housekeeping.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range.  Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.

 

Pay Grade - $18.00/hour

 

Travel Required: Up to 25% (With no or minimal overnight stays, less than 3 per month, typically within state of Nebraska)  Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
