Telecommunications Engineer I-III, or Telecommunications Engineering Analyst I-V

Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a Telecommunications Engineer Levels I, II, III OR Telecommunications Engineering Analyst Leves I, II, III, IV, V located at York, NE. 

Position closes January 23, 2020.

 

Position Summary

A Telecom Engineer coordinates and performs Telecommunications engineering evaluations, functional analysis, compatibility analysis, design, security, testing, deployment, planning, and project coordination for existing and new Telecommunications and ET products including but not limited to fiber, microwave, radio, telephone, and data products. The position provides engineering technical support, project engineering and development, strategic planning, engineering analysis, maintenance and operational support, and engineering design. Areas of engineering focus are assigned (areas are data, IP phone, fiber, microwave, and radio) network design along with strategic planning development in these areas.

 

A Telecom Engineer Analyst coordinates and performs evaluations, functional analysis, compatibility analysis, design, security, testing, deployment, planning, and project coordination for existing and new Telecommunications and ET products including but not limited to fiber, microwave, radio, telephone, and data products. The incumbent provides subject matter knowledge on technical, functional, and business topics for ET with assignments designed to leverage information and telecommunications technology and automation in the Telecommunications area and help with improving efficiencies internal to ET and improve customer service to end users and business units. The incumbent will perform project coordination and management as assigned. This position will exhibit high-level communication and customer service skills.

Education, Training and Experience

Telecom Engineer I-III: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university is required OR Professional Engineering License and Bachelor’s Degree from a Non-ABET accredited school is required.

 

Telecom Engineering Analyst I:  Associates Degree in electronics, equivalent military education/experience, or in the engineering/technical field.  

 

Telecom Engineering Analyst II:  Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications Technology or related field (OR) Associates Degree in electronics, equivalent military education/experience, or in the engineering/technical field plus two years’ experience in the Telecommunications field. 

 

Telecom Engineering Analyst III:  Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications Technology or related field plus two years’ experience in the Telecommunications field (OR) Associates Degree in electronics, equivalent military education/experience, or in the engineering/technical field plus six (6) years’ experience in the Telecommunications field. 

 

Telecom Engineering Analyst IV:  Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications Technology or related field plus four (4) years’ experience in the Telecommunications field (OR) Associates Degree in electronics, equivalent military education/experience, or in the engineering/technical field plus eight (8) years’ experience in the Telecommunications field. 

 

Telecom Engineer Analyst V:  Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications Technology or related field plus five (5) years’ experience in the Telecommunications field (OR) Associates Degree in electronics, equivalent military education/experience, or in the engineering/technical field plus nine (9) years’ experience in the Telecommunications field. 

 

 

Required Experience

Must have 3 to 5 years experience in Cisco or Juniper data networks. Juniper is preferred, including experience specifically working with OSPF, BGP, MPLS, and VPLS.

Salary Information:

Telecom Engineer I: Pay Grade 12 $69,324.00 - $87,564.00 annually   (Exempt)

Telecom Engineer II: Pay Grade 13 $77,760.00 - $98,210.00 annually  (Exempt)

Telecom Engineer III: Pay Grade 14 $88,416.00 - $113,875.00  annually (Exempt)

Telecom Engineer Analyst I:  Pay Grade 10 $4.578.00 - $$5,782.00 monthly (Non Exempt, Salaried)

Telecom Engineer Analyst II:  Pay Grade 11 $5,127.00 - $6,475.00 monthly (Non Exempt, Salaried)

Telecom Engineer Analyst III:  Pay Grade 12 $5,777.00 - $7,297.00 monthly (Non Exempt, Salaried)

Telecom Engineer Analyst IV:  Pay Grade 13 $77,760.00 - $98,210.00 (Exempt)

Telecom Engineer Analyst V:  Pay Grade 14 $88,416 - $113,875.00 (Exempt)

 

Travel Required:   Travel required may fluctuate by business need. This is an estimate and will be discussed further with candidates that receive an interview.
